Well what a lunch. Yes, i was a little concerned by the menu choice but as it turned out i was very well fed and watered and would happily do it again. Thank you to all Simon and his team and to the waiters at all three restaurants who looked after me and my guests during the Park Lane Tour.

London Restaurant Festival received several comments about The Big Roast Event. Festival organiser Simon Davis responds:

I am sorry to hear that a few people were disappointed by their experience at The Big Roast on Sunday. Many of your comments seem perfectly valid.

The initiative was one of 15 or so that we planned to mark the first year of the London Restaurant Festival.

The response to all of the events and the 500 restaurants running Festival Menus has been overwhelmingly positive so it makes these few complaints even more pertinent.

There were certainly some issues with the production of the event during initial sittings. The chefs did a great job and for a short period our main problem was ensuring that there was an even distribution of food amongst all the guests.

We may do The Big Roast next year as even those who felt let down seem to agree that the idea is essentially a good one.

If it does form part of The London Restaurant Festival 2010 I can assure you that we've taken all the points of criticism - as well as the feedback from several hundred happy customers - on board. So if we do it again we'll get it spot on.

My apologies again and I hope you will continue to support the London Restaurant Festival in the future and can forgive us any teething problems we've encountered in our first year.

Kind regards

Simon Davis
Festival Director

What a coup to get Bamber Gascoigne to host. I hope this event happens again next year as I'd love to see the chefs caining those critics!

The Festival Menus were fantastic - I tried two very different ones and both were extremely satisfying. Can't wait for next year's London Restaurant Festival!

Wow, the Masonic Temple room looks amazing, as does the food. What a great place for a pop-up restaurant.

Fantastic event! We went on the "Piccadilly" Gourmet Odyssey Sat 10 October - the Met. Bar, Nobu, the Square and the Greenhouse. Great food, wine and atmosphere, met some interesting people and enjoyed the ride on the old Routemaster bus. The sun even shone!

I do hope this will be repeated and go from strength to strength. I'm already looking forward to next year!

The lunch Simon at QV sounds wonderful and in the spirit of The LRF very good value. Could you please explain then why the Gourmet Odyssey Park Lane Tour at a price of £135 i have been limited to such a rigid set menu ie a no choice starter a choice of only two main courses and again a no choice dessert. This is hardly show casing these top gastro restaurants menus. Actually i feel a little cheated by it all right now.
